βš™ THIS IS A DESIGN SURFACE β€” NOTHING IS BUILT. No bFactory exists; no number on this page is telemetry. Everything here is the ratified design made walkable, so alpha testers can read the plan and argue with it. A page that showed a running factory would be fabricating data, which is the one thing this organism refuses.
🌻 THE FARMER EATS FIRST β€” ratified law, carried verbatim on page one
The Coop is the hemp farmer's floor, and the bootstrap is human farming β€” the founder's own word. Until gate BF-1 is ruled, every bFactory document and surface carries this law where it cannot be missed. Automation that displaced the farmer would break a rule this organism ratified before it built anything.

🏭 the bFactory

an ordinary farm grows a crop and then asks what can be made from it. a bFactory reads the downstream dock and grows to it. one new part β€” a control loop β€” on top of rails this organism already built.

1 Β· THE CONTROL LOOP β€” the only genuinely new part

The loop closes. What was delivered is measured, and the measurement re-docks as the next cycle's ground truth. That closure is what separates this from a greenhouse with robots: the plan is a function of demand, and demand is a function of what actually shipped.

2 Β· "PROGRAM THE PLANT" β€” what it means precisely, and what it does not

It means select cultivar, control the growth environment, and choose the harvest stage to bias which fractions the plant yields. Bast fibre wants a different plant, planting density and harvest date than seed; flower wants a third. That is agronomy with a closed loop, and it is achievable with ordinary equipment. It is not a claim about genetic engineering β€” that would be a separate spec with an entirely separate regulatory surface, and this design does not assert it (gate BF-2).
pick a demand signal and watch the intended fraction split move β€” illustrative shape only, not measured yields:

3 Β· WHAT PLUGS IN β€” already built, not promised

layerwhat carries it today

environmental accountingthe environmental arm β€” a bFactory's inputs and outputs are its parameters

Six layers already exist; the bFactory adds one. That ratio is the strongest argument that the sequencing is right β€” and the reason this design is publishable before a single bolt is turned.

4 Β· HONESTY REQUIREMENTS β€” binding on any build

Failure is a first-class state. A crop fails, a robot stops, a sensor lies. A bFactory must report what it did not achieve with the same fidelity as what it did β€” the NotMeasured law applied to a whole season.
"Fully autonomous" describes the operating loop, not an absence of accountability. Every cycle emits receipts onto the same rails the Coop and Farmers Market already use.
No hive subsidy. A bFactory funds its own inputs and is paid for its output like any other participant β€” a factory the hive must underwrite fails the ten-billionth-user test wearing a different costume.

5 Β· OPEN GATES β€” shown, because alpha testers deserve the undecided parts too

βš‘ BF-1 Β· the farmer's standing under automation
Does "the farmer eats first" mean (a) farmers hold settlement priority over bFactory output on the same rails, (b) bFactories serve only where human farming does not reach β€” off-season, controlled environment, land unsuited to field crops, scale beyond available labour β€” or (c) a ruled combination? No seat may decide this. The engineering argument for (b) stands on its own merits: human farming supplies the measured ground truth any autonomous planner needs before it can be trusted with a season.
βš‘ BF-2 Β· what "program the plant" extends to
Cultivar, environment and harvest-stage selection (this design's reading), or genetic modification β€” which is a separate spec, a separate regulatory surface, and a separate ruling.
βš‘ BF-3 Β· first physical scope
A controlled-environment module, or an instrumented partnership with a human farm that supplies the ground truth BF-1's option (b) argues for.
