We tested every architecture against the chain's real arithmetic and only one way scales — the full analysis:
TIER 1 — on-chain anchor (paid, scarce) the domains row stays under require_auth; after the ruled trims the anchor is ~155 B/user. Premium tier, millions of anchors, first-come by the chain itself.
TIER 2 — off-chain resolution (free, unbounded) addresses behind owner-signed responses a client verifies against the on-chain key — 0 marginal bytes per record, deletion instant. Where ENS landed too.
REJECTED — one line each buy-RAM: the bytes do not exist past ~12.7M users · Merkle: cannot prove deletion · fully off-chain: forfeits require_auth.
THE MIGRATION WINDOW evolving the live contract costs under a dollar at 13 rows, impossible at 13 million. Ten billion users = ten billion keypairs, not accounts — only anchors take rows.
